Grape Crush Jello Shots (that actually set)
Recipe #8 of 103 from the rebuilt chain-email list. Makes 12 one-ounce shots.
Fifteen minutes of work, four hours in the fridge.
Ingredients
- 1 cup grape soda
- 1 box grape jello
- 1/4 cup vodka + 1/4 cup Chambord
- Pam or other cooking spray, for the cups
Method
- Bring 1 cup grape soda to a boil in a pot twice the size you think you need; it foams.
- Off the heat, whisk in 1 box grape jello until there is no grit, a full two minutes.
- Stir in 1/4 cup vodka + 1/4 cup Chambord. That is your cooling liquid; no cold water anywhere.
- Pour into 1 oz cups sprayed with Pam.
- Fridge four hours minimum. Overnight is better.
Why it sets when the old recipe didn't. The 2010 list used a cup of water and a cup of
booze per box. Alcohol fights gelatin; fifty-fifty loses. This is soda instead of water (sugar and flavor
both help), booze at a third, and half the liquid the box asks for, all of it hot. Jiggler strength.
